Bears in the Woods Scholarships: Supporting Our Bear Cubs

The Bears in the Woods alumni group is committed to helping our newly-enrolled Cal students make the most of their University experience by providing both monetary and personal support. Our goals are to help you enjoy your Cal experience as much as we did and to assist you in maintaining strong links to Cal beyond graduation.

Bears in the Woods offers scholarships to high school graduates in our geographic area who have been accepted at Cal and plan to attend the University in the fall. The $2,000.00 scholarship is awarded in May or June each year and is renewable for up to four consecutive years based on satisfactory coursework completion and continued enrollment in at least 12 units per semester.

Hanna Kelso our 2024 Scholarship Winner

The Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that Hannah Kelso is our Bears in the Woods scholarship winner for 2024. She is beyond excited to start her studies at Cal. Hannah grew up and attended schools in South Lake Tahoe. In addition to being a stellar student, Hannah has made significant contributions to her high school community as well as her local community. Hannah loves music and has performed in all of her high school musicals. She hopes to join an acapella group at Cal. For sports, she enjoys running cross country and nordic skiing. Hannah looks forward to giving back to Bears in the Woods after her studies are completed.
